Pamplona Bars: Sip, Savor and Soak in the Spirits

     It is Thursday night, you just finished your boring assignment and you have no idea what to do or where to go. Well, thankfully it is  Juevintxo night, which means a lot of pintxos and drinks for you. After spending some fair amount of time here in Pamplona we have decided to help future exchange students to find a perfect pintxo bar.

1. Your first stop should be Bar Gaucho, a warm and cozy establishment that serves a various version of pintxos and drinks. Located in the historical part of Pamplona, this bar is a famous place among Erasmus students not just on Thursday night. There is no word that can describe the feeling you get standing outside among fellow students having classic tortilla de patatas or jamon pintxo while having a laugh with your friends. Lastly, we recommend this place because it is close to all of the clubs and, most importantly, it is near a bus stop.

2. Near Plaza del Castillo you can find an amazing bar called Basseri. Experience Basque cuisine through pintxos that are made from local ingredients. Indulge into their chorizo- stuffed mushrooms or their signature art called Gilda- a pintxo featuring olives, anchovies, and pickled peppers. If you consider yourself a food enthusiast visit bar Basseri.

 

3. If you are feeling little bit posher then definitely try a bar called Casa Otano which is in the heart of the historic center of Pamplona. We recommend trying their croquets filled with cheese and ham and Rioja wine which will blow away your taste buds. There is nothing better than sharing a bunch of pintxos with your friend while planning your next trip.

 

4. While being an Erasmus student here in Pamplona, my favorite place to hang out was Extra Time. A small student bar located in Iturrama just on your way to Universidad de Navarra. This lovely place offers a various range of pintxos for a student budget, but also serves from hot to cold, alcoholic to non-alcoholic drinks. If you are feeling bored after a uni just hop in this bar in which you can play pool or table soccer. I can assure you that you will make a lot of memories with your friends just like we did.

 

5. If you find yourself craving a coffee and small sweet bites visit Horno Artesano, a perfect place to have a chit-chat with your friends or a place to study. With lovely service, great café con leche and a chocolate croissant you will immidiately fall in love with this place just like we did. Our recommondation is to come on Sunday morning when all of the pastery is fresh and warm.
